The Highway 40 Drive-In was a popular drive-in for years. It was on the corner of 40 Highway and Noland Road in Independence, MO. It closed in the late 1980's. At the end of its life it often showed more adult fare. I remember in high school driving around to the other side of the road trying to see the goings on. We didn't have a whole lot to do obviously. This ad touted a renovation in 1968. My dad told me this was the main drive-in he and his buddies went to while he was growing up in the 50's. This ad is from the 4/5/68 Kansas City Star.
